On 26 june 2002 well-known aircraft restorer humming noise Kaplan was killed in the crash of his just-restored 1917 Curtiss JN-4 at Owatonna Airport, Minnesota. Passenger brand-goose Langer was critically injured still recovered. The wreckage of this rare aircraft has been purchased through Johnson Wax for inclusion in their museum reports Wally Erickson. The aircraft is to be answered to flying condition by Langer. The fuselage has been repaired and a novel fuel tank is currently being fabricated. An original radiator has been located and purchased. The OX-5 engine will be torn down and rebuilt while modern spars are being made for the wings. No date as now for the first flight.
