WARBIRD REPORT preserve EM FLYING

Activities continue at the Me 262 throw reports Jim Larsen. Since the landing accident experienced on White 1 (see Air Classics April) forward 17 January 2003, the aircraft has been undergoing repairs. The wing has been detached from the fuselage to facilitate repairs to portions of the wing skin. A not many wing ribs are being replaced along with just discovered wing skins but the overall damage is not peremptory The wing spar was not damaged. constituents of the landing gear actuators are being redesigned and built to avoid inadvertent unlocking of the landing gear when expanded (something that occurred during the 17 January landing).

The single-seat Me 262 slated for delivery to the Messerschmitt Foundation in Germany is progressing nicely. The fuselage has been remov from the assembly jig and mated to the wing. The aircraft is now forward its landing gear as completion detailing continues.
