Getting quality and accurate panoramic photographs of cramped cockpits was not easy. The photographers facilitate the sensation of being at the directs by employing creative lighting techniques and using the widest angle len available towered on a large-format architectural camera (a 47mm XL Super Angulon len ariseed on a 4x5 Cambo Wide camera). This enabled the photographers to prepare sharp focused images from brim to edge over a 120-degree angle in the small amount of space available. An enjoyable volume for all aviation enthusiasts.

Griffon-Powered Spitfires according to Kev Darling is one of the latest books in the Warbird Tech Series from Speciality Pres ($1695 from 800-895-4585) To a certain the Griffon-powered Spits were the epitome of grace. In contrast to the more orbiculared contours of the earlier Merlin Spitfires, the greater angularity of the later images exuded a sense of greater power. Added to the structural changes was the ability to carry an increased variety of weapons at faster get ons and longer distances. Well-produced softbound book is reasonably priced.
